on Brain Injury Research and Recovery
The overall goal of this meeting is to review current research in brain injury and to achieve a consensus on research priorities at the four levels of research covered; basic science, acute intervention, post-acute rehabilitation and community re-entry/improving quality of life, and to develop a consensus document on research issues and priorities that will drive research over the next five years leading to significantly improved outcomes and improved quality of life for persons with brain injury.
Objectives:
- To review current research
- To discuss and prioritize future research ideas
- To discuss critical issues that impede research in brain injury
- To invite response from non-research scientists regarding concerns about translating research into practice
- To work in small groups to establish a research agenda at each level
- To develop a framework for a Johnstown White Paper (consensus statement) on Brain Injury Research Priorities and Needs leading to better outcomes and significantly improved quality of life
- To discuss publication and follow-up
- To develop an action plan
